A Review of the Gucci Jordaan Loafers

When purchasing a pair of $920 loafers one wants to do their research first. At least I did before I bought my first pair of Gucci loafers 2 years ago. After owning that pair and buying an additional pair during that time I decided to give a review of these iconic and coveted shoes.

Ever since I followed Sarah Vickers in high school I had wanted a pair of Gucci loafers but wasn't ready for the heavy price tag. While still in college I had a family member give me raving reviews on these loafers and how they truly were a luxury essential. At that point, I began the hunt for the perfect starter pair.

Since I was still in college I was really interested in finding an authentic pair but at a lower price and possibly with rubber soles added to protect the loafers since I knew they would be exposed to the elements. I finally found the perfect pair of black velvet Jordaan loafers from The Real Real. The previous owner had rubber soles professionally added which sold me even further. The instant I tried them on I was amazed at how comfortable these loafers were. I have tried numerous pairs of high-end and supposed wonderful shoes, but NONE have compared to the comfort level of these Gucci loafers. I did choose to apply a light coating of this protective spray that I initially purchased for my Margaux flats, aside from that the shoes have needed no maintenance aside from a light dusting when they get dirty.

After being so surprised and satisfied by these shoes I decided to purchase my dream pair to wear as I started my career. This was again another pair of Jordaans in dark brown leather. These shoes were harder to break in due to the sturdy nature of the leather. But do not fear, it was painless, you just may need a shoe horn and maybe a few days to soften the leather. This pair I did have treated by a cobbler to protect the leather as well as again adding rubber soles to the leather-bottomed shoes.

Sizing can be very overwhelming when buying your first pair of designer shoes so I hope I can offer some insight. Most websites claim that Gucci loafers run about 1/2 a size small compared to other shoes, whereas a pair of Chanels is said to run a full size small. These claims were true if you used a non-designer pair of shoes as your guide. When buying flats from J.Crew I always get a 9.5 so a 40 in Gucci loafers made sense. But inversely I wear a size 10 in Golden Goose so when comparing to other high-end shoes they may be more "true-to-size" being that a lot of designer items can run a tad small.

Finally, I also wanted to briefly mention my final pair of Gucci flats which seem to have no reviews. This is the Yva flats which came out a few years ago. I have loved these since they came out and was truly so happy to get my hands on a pair. Not only are the soles done in a beautiful blue and white floral, but also the insoles. Gold interior accents also add to the subtle details that really elevate these shoes. The exterior is a combo of leather and snakeskin. Though I usually don't like snakeskin, Gucci really did a good job of using it simply to enhance these flats. The flats have a tad more branding than the loafers as they feature a small Gucci emblem on the bow. Overall, I found these flats to be super cute and comfortable (though the loafers will always be my number one!) also they ran the same sizewise as the Jordaan loafers.

Overall, if you are wondering if you should buy a pair of Gucci loafers I would most likely say YES! It is important though to take into account your style and look at how often you will get a chance to wear these costly loafers. I wore mine a lot in school, but that number bumped up even further once I started my job. I have also seen numerous people tie these loafers into more athleisure styles all the way to super dressy. Below I have included a few of the numerous ways that I styled my amazing loafers.

Similar velvet loafers (sold out, only in men's presently), brown leather loafers. Less expensive brown loafers, less expensive velvet loafers.
